    Is it?

I have a hard time with two cranks. I get the reasons.

They used to cost $30,000 each against gas at under 10k or 3x the price. $40k is a lot of fuel for twins

I would have risked them at $15k.

Yeah, if you live in the US or some other country with subsidized fuel. Same reason many of your home produced vehicles have engines 3-5 times the size of the majority in Europe or Aisa.

Granted, you DO have to put a lot of hours on them to make them pay for themselves.

Marina fuel here runs a bit over $4, so that is 10,000 gallons for my application, call it 200 fills.

Then, if the engines need service, seriously, do you fly a tech in from Timbuktu? Apologies to Timbuktu.

Yeah, you are emphasizing my point about discounted fuel. Any diesel mech can change an oil and filter, no need for a Timbuktoan. I understand you do not set fuel prices, and will use what makes economic sense to you, it does explain why the fuel burn of America is bigger than anyone else.

If you was blowing through a fill-up a day, then you would start recouping the cost within the first year.

yeah, and that was why they targeted workboats in their initial marketing

I gave them a week of consideration for the upside of diesel over gas.

That half price thing has me worried now they can’t move them at all.

I didnt realise that. Not surprised. Not much use for diesel except for trucking and farming. A friend fitted a 15hp Yanmar diesel outboard after removing two old Volvo MD6 engines. He was happy with it until some *********** decided they needed it more than he did.

Fuel is no subsidized in the USA, it is not as taxed as in Europe which results in much lower prices.
As far as service, Yanmar engines have a large net of dealers in this country. They are used in boats, pumps, generators, tractors and all kinds of other applications.

Then that means that the Yanmar dealers are able to service them.

Apart from HEAVY? I believe they were the first generation Yanmar diesel outboards, this is 2 decades ago. Not sure if i recall correctly, there was only 2 models, either 15-18hp and a 35-40hp. They had a long trail period with a fishery in Scotland with good results with regards to reliability and low running costs.
