colinhilton: Fitment of Lift-Motors to 8' Cat
The outlines filed 17th and 18th July of 2024 show configurations featuring vectoring and fixed means of power that reflect wider developments in the evolution of eVTOLs. The latter however offers the benefits of simplicity albeit at lower levels of efficiency, allowing the craft to operate as both a quadcopter and a planing catamaran. A more immediate benefit however is that with a conventional two-stick RC transmitter the lift-motors can be powered independent of the cruise-motors (removed here) to elevate the craft into ground-effect for operation clear of the surface. The motors are suspended and with speed-controllers relocated to each of the upper beams, fitment of either motors or propellers is easily accommodated by unclipping the front end of each ski to remove either beam from the craft.
